Identifying Landmarks

When you take apart the word, "Landmark," you see that is is literally a "mark upon the land." It is something that tells you where you are. It is something that makes that place different from all of the space around it.

A landmark can be...

a home

a sign

a monument

a land form

a work of art

a building

a gathering place

Have students come to school with pictures and drawings of favorite landmarks which they see between home and school.

Do research to determine the date it was constructed (if appropriate). Consolidate all information on the NAME THAT LANDMARK activity page.
